Aroy mac-mac!

Aroy means tasty in Thai language, whereas mac-mac is the translation for very. This little I learned during my first five months in Thailand. Being hungry as a horse, I stopped at a small family-owned restaurant. An eatery, as they call it, with cheap decent food.

– What is this?
– Pork.
– And this?
– Duck.
– I want duck with rice.

(After finishing my meal)

– You like duck?
– Yaaa. Duck aroy mac-mac.

There was no point in explaining the nice lady that in Romanian language, the sound the duck makes is exactly mac-mac. The meal was 56 baht, including a soup and a bottle of Pepsi.
